Drive Image 5.0

I have Drive Image 5.0. Prior to upgrading some time ago, I was able to backup my system to about 4 CD-Rs. Since I've upgraded, I waited a long time before trying it out. When I did, it would backup to the first CD-R & then give me a message to put in another. However, it wouldn't read the disk & kept telling me to put in another. So I'm now stuck without being able to use it. Anyone use DI 5.0 & know what I can do to fix it? (Powerquest replied that they no longer support 5.0)
    Thanks,

I don't use CDs for backing up, Phil, but I went Google-grouping to see what I could see. I'm VERY disappointed in PQ and their lack of assistance to users on this topic. I found enough hits of people with similar problems to be upsetting - especially PQs apparent attitude. I read a few comments about PQs list of supported devices. Is yours on such a list - if it can be found at all? Sorry not to be able to help - only feel your concerned sentiments! That might help explain why PQ went from version 5 to 6 in what I thought was an unreasonably short time, with little or no product enhancement.

I gave up on Drive Image because it wouldn't play nicely with my firewire drive and Win2k Pro. Try Instant Recovery form NovaStor instead. If you can set up your machine to boot from the CD, you don't even have to build diskettes for it.

Ahhh, that restores my faith in PowerQuest, Phil. As I may have said in one or more earlier posts, they have always been pretty ethical and reliable in the past, albeit sometimes a little slow with the updates. One thing you said though - I just checked their site and Drive Image 2002 (6.0) is the latest I see. Was that a typo on your part or have they sneak-previewed you a copy of something newer?

Anyway, the bottom line is that it's working for you - that's what counts! Congrats.....

(Edited by Phil Rabichow on 25-Jan-03 09:34. to change Version 7 to Version 6)
Hi Al & Charlotte:
Sorry for the delay in responding and thanking you but I wanted to see if I had something to report. I followed up on your que, Al, & called Powerquest customer support. I complained that version 4 had worked fine & that upgrading to version 5 meant I couldn't span disks. It had been a year since I ordered it, but I said that the first time I tried tech support, I was told that version 5 was no longer supported. GUESS WHAT!! They upgraded me instantly with no charge to version 6. They said that others had had that problem with version 5. Version 6 works perfectly, so I'm a happy camper.

Charlotte: thanks for your suggestion also. I am unhappy that Drive Image doesn't work with firewire (actually because DOS doesn't recognize my firewire drive). If Powerquest hadn't come through so quickly, I would have switched.

. Yes, thanks Al, it's Drive Image 2002 - Version 6 & I edited my post. (I have Partition Magic - Version 7, but so what...struggling to find an excuse).
