    Mysterious Changes (XP)

Does anyone know why everytime I shut down, when I turn my computer back on, my incoming mail server (pop3) and my account name have been changed? I thank you in advance for help with my teeny tiny problems.

    Can we get a bit more info? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Changed to what? Another valid account? Different default? Rubbish?

    What's you OS?

Are you still logged on as the same OS user?

    Re: Mysterious Changes (XP)

It changes the server name from mail.pngusa.net to localhost and it changed my account name to brpsm/mail.pngusa.net. Coincidentally, it happened this morning while I was online!

    Ideas?

    Thanks, br

PS: My OS is XP Home and has not changed. Yes, I am still logged on as that same Computer administrator. I do not have this problem on my other machine operating w-98.

You are using a virus or spam scanner that works as a local pop server. Your mail client talks to the scanner as though it were your mail server, and passes it the necessary credentials to retrieve and pre-process your mail. Or maybe you installed such a thing to try it out, dumped it, and it never released its grip on your settings.
