    Backup (outlook xp/internet e-mail only)

    Hi,

<img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15> needed. How can i backup my email messages by yearly basis? I have made three folders in my inbox like '2001', '2002' and etc., Now i would like to make them into separate backup files. Then If i need them later, how i can view them or make them into one file. Could someone <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15> me on this?

    <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15> In Advance

Create a new .pst file for each year - see if this thread helps.

    Hi,

    <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15> for asking again for <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15>.

I'm not able to rename the .pst file like 2001, 2002 and etc., It is always
showing as personal folders.pst. Anyway to change it? Could you give more steps to perform this?

I'm not so experienced or professional. Please help!!!

    Thanks,

Re: Backup (outlook xp/internet e-mail only)

File > Data File Management >
    Click on "Add..."
Select the default Type of storage: Personal Folders File (.pst) and click on OK

In the Create or Open Outlook Data File window that appears next, enter as a filename:
    2001.pst

In the Create Microsoft Personal Folders window that appears next, enter as a Name:
    2001

You should now be returned to the Window above where you clicked "Add..."
    Click "Close"

    View > Folder List
You should now see a new folder called 2001 (Probably at the top of the tree)

You now simply create within that new .pst the sub-folders you require.
    File > New > Folder
From the second field you can select what kind of items you want to store in it.

When you have copied or moved your archive/backup material:
File > Data File Management >
    Select (Single Click) 2001
    and click on "Remove"

If you want to see the path to this new .pst file, click on "Settings" with it selected.

Once it has been saved and removed from Outlook, you can rename it to whatever you like, keeping the extension .pst. To open and view the contents, you start the process as above, but in the Create or Open Outlook Data File window select the name of an existing .pst file.
