    loosing 'save as' after export/import (Outlook 2000 / W2K)

Since there isn't any way to do mass maintenance on contacts within Outlook, I have exported the contacts file (usually into Excel), do my changes in the spreadsheet and then import the contacts back into Outlook. Unfortunately, when I do this, the original "save as" values in Outlook are lost (Outlook resests all to its default - Last Name, First Name which is OK for people but I have some companies that I "save as" Company, Last Name). Is there anyway to keep the "save as" values I had before the export after the import? Note: In the field mapping for the export/import, "save as" is NOT one of the available fields ! Thanks.

What mass changes do you need to make? Group by... then drag between groups works for some things... there is an area code changer macro to update area code changes.... see http://www.slipstick.com and http://www.slovaktech.com

I think there is also a macro at one of those sites to change the file as...
