    Formula in Excel (Excel XP)

    Hi everyone,

I am trying to learn Excel and one of the questions I have been confronted with is to use a "formula that totals the estimated cost of all items in the budget that represent less than or equal to 10% of the total budget." I can see the result in my head but I have been unable to create a formula to accomplish what I need. Can anyone help? I am sorry but I do not know how to make the numbers match one under the other as in a table.

Estimated Cost % of Total Cost
    $225,685.00 42.5%
    $21,564.00 4.1%
    $97,850.00 18.4%
    $32,879.00 6.2%
    $27,564.00 5.2%
    $125,560.00 23.6%

    Total Estimated Cost $531,102.00
    Loan Payment $4,553.79

Total of items less than or equal to 10%
    Total of items over 10%

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Re: Formula in Excel (Excel XP)

Assuming the data is in columns A & B ...

Total of items less than or equal to 10% =SUMIF(B2:B7,"<=0.1",A2:A7)
Total of items over 10% =SUMIF(B2:B7,">0.1",A2:A7)
