    Outlook - *.jpg (Outlook 2000/SP3)

Does anyone know of a fix similar to the one at this link Outlook Attachments
that will work with Outlook 2000 SP-3. Since installing SP-3 I have to tell Outlook each time to allow a "*.jpg" file to open. When there are multiple "*.jpg" files attached to an email it becomes annoying to have to OK each picture to open.

    Thanks.

Are you telling us that '.jpg' files are being refused access to such as is the case with '.exe' files? Or are you saying that you have to open each '.jpg' file individually as opposed to them appearing automatically in the body as does Outlook Express?

    Bruce,

I get quite a few .jpg files. I could turn off the dialogue box that asks each time I try to open one of them if I want to open it or save it. If I told it to stop asking, I

    Hlewton ~

In Outlook Express, that behaviour would be my preference, rather than all items being shown automatically in the body. Other than having the JPGs sent in a Zip folder, I am not familiar with a carte blanche method of saving the entire batch at once nor of a method to open them individually automatically by defeating that pop-up option dialog box.

What was the behaviour before you updated to SP-3 last week?

    Bruce,

I would only have to double click it and it would open without any questions or hesitation.

Well, it looks like they 'fixed' it for ya! <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>

I am still looking for the same workaround for myself in OE, so I will keep an eye open and post back if I get lucky.

I have tried toggling it both ways and they still appear in the e-mail body automatically in OE & OL. I would prefer the action hlewton is encountering.

Bruce, I think you are referring back to the behavior of displaying attached images when there is no text in the message. I have no new comments on that problem.

    Jscher2000,

I checked my Windows Explorer and it seemed to be already set the way you show. So I guess the next step is to tell Outlook to stop asking. I

    jscher2000,

I'm sorry, but are you referring to the check box when Outlook tries to guess what you want to do "Open or Save"?

    Thanks.

I was referring to the checkbox in the picture I posted. I'm going to edit my posts so this is finally clear!!!

Another way to toggle this setting is through the File Types dialog in Windows Explorer (Tools > Folder Options... > File Types) as pictured in the attached.

To clarify - this is not a blocked file type problem. JPGs are not blocked by either OE or OL security features as dangerous file types.
