    Re: NTFS Size Limit

    SUMMARY
Although Windows NT 4.0 can in theory support partitions of up to 16 exabytes in size using the NTFS file system, the maximum size of the system partition is limited to 7.8 gigabytes (GB).

For the rest of the article, see:
224526 : Windows NT 4.0 Supports Maximum of 7.8-GB System Partition

    Re: NTFS Size Limit

I think Microsoft's TechNet article could have been better worded.

There is no PHYSICAL limitation to creating an NTFS System Partition on NT 4 - you could have it as big as any disk currently available!

But you will get boot problems if "system files" get located above the 7.8 GB boundary, perhaps by the application of a service pack, or a defragment, etc.

I might be splitting hares (!).
