    UPS - power supply recommendations

    Hi folks,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a competent battery backup rated at at least 750W whose software will run under W2K Server?

    Thanks.

I've had good luck @work & @home with APC. I sure they have a model that will suit your needs.

I too have had very good experiences with APC products of all kinds. There is, however, one caveat that bears mention: proprietary software can cables. If this is to protect a server, do get the cables and monitoring software. I run 6 servers, 4 of which are Win2k, and wouldn't be without it. Remember - a power outage is a power outage, whether from the grid or failed UPS.

I run a very large TrippLite UPS that comes with universal software, that is, the software works with almost every UPS brand. The data cables are proprietary, but once I had one, I could recreate them cheaply and quickly.

Just make sure to buy more capacity than you think you need. You'll be surprised how many other things folks will want to plug into it once it's there. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
