'To Fit' command for textbox on form (Access 2000)

I am attaching a form with the "To Fit"command going into use. The problem here, is that I need each individual Last Name field (heck any field would do) to only be as wide as the entry of that last name in each persons individual form. When I choose the "To Fit" command, the field does nothing. It remains the same size no matter what I do....HELP What am I doing wrong, or not doing right...hehe..enclosing a pic of scenario

You are talking about the form dynamically sizing the text box as records change, which is a pretty tall order - it seems to me there was a thread about how to do that a year or so ago that involved lots of VBA, Twips and other such stuff. The "to fit" option on resizing a control simply sets the control to a sized that is (arbitrarily) determined based on the font size being used. So how to proceed?

We often use a trick that makes the control transparent unless you are editing and actually have focus on the control by simply setting the background to Transparent, and removing the border and any special effects from the control. In the editing mode, you can't determine how large to make the control anyhow, as you don't know what characters are going to be entered until they exit the control, so a fixed size that scrolls seems effective for that case. BTW, we often use a separate form for editing.
