Sum using filters (XP SP 1)

    Folks,

is there an easy way to have a sum to auto update based on a filtered list ?

Assuming a list with various items and quantities. I want to filter by items and have a cell automatically return the sum of quantities base on that filter.

Probably obvious but i can't figure it out.

    Regards

If its a visual filter (e.g. autofilter) then the SUBTOTAL command sums visible cells

    =SUBTOTAL(9,$A$1:$A$100)

will sum only those cells in a1:A100 which can be seen

Alternatively you can use complex criteria in a DSUM command.
