Probably what I want to do is impossible. I receive messages from computers using different languages. It seems that no matter what settings I use something is screwy. At the moment my default MIME setting is Japanese (auto-select). If I don't use Japanese then the Japanese symbols in the subject line are gibberish. But if I do use Japanese then sometimes certain symbols (notably apostrophe ' ) are turned into kanji. Moreover within the message boy western messages often have Kanji lurking. This can be fixed by changing the messages' encoding but this doesn't seem to affect the subject line. Once that is 'corrupted' it stays that way. Ideally (perhaps?) it would be good if there were away to apply different coding to different incoming messages. I'm sure that solution is impossible but is there anything anyone can suggest I try. This problem is really irritating.

Thanks,

Chris
