How to set the default document 'Save' properties (WordXP)

I am wondering how to set the default document properties for a Word Document. For example, when I set the SAVE properties for a document to "Embed True Type Fonts", this setting is lost when I create a new document.

    Thanks,

I think you can set those kinds of defaults by editing the document template (or, if these are documents created using Blank Document or the new document button on the toolbar, the Normal.dot template). If you open the template, make the option change, save, and close, all new documents based on that template should inherit the setting. At least in theory.

Finding a template using File|Open... sometimes can be a challenge. If you use Windows Explorer, remember to right-click and choose Open, otherwise you'll get a new Document1 (etc.) instead.
