2GB PST File - Fatal Error

I have just reached the 2GB size for my PST file and now I find out that Outlook2000 can't handle a PST file that large. According to MS Support, there are third party tools that can recover from this file. Anyone know of any? If I was aware of this limit, I would have been running auto-archive more often.

You can create a new .pst file, and then try to Import from the old one. If it works you should have a much smaller file which you can clean up. Good luck!

PSS has a utility that may work. you need to call them for it. i usually recommend opening a copy of the pst in a hex editor and deleting out a block of text from the middle to bring it under 2gig then try scanpst.

always work with copies of the pst, BTW.

Thanks for the suggestion... unfortunatly, Outlook does not like to even THINK about having anything to do with the 2GB PST file.

outlook can't hook to a pst that big and it needs to hook for importing.
