At the place where I "work," I often build from scratch or rebuild personal computers. These days we install XP Pro, with SP-1 of course, and a whole suite of additional software like Netscape, Homesite, Paint Shop Pro and on and on..... I've got one of several I've built up in the past couple of weeks that's having a problem with .HTM or .HTML file associations. If I double-click on a file in Windows Explorer it takes about a minute to a minute and a half for a Windows error message to come up, saying it "CAN'T FIND" the filespec in question. I'm sitting right there looking at it in Explorer. The error message explicitly shows the WHOLE path name, correctly I might add. Sorry I can't screenshot it, I'm at home now. I've checked the file associations for HTM and HTML and they correctly point to Netscape. Can anyone think of anywhere else in some obscure setting I need to look for the solution? I've tried other file types, such as TXT and so on, and they bring up the correct application when double-clicked. It's a puzzle because right next to it is another machine I'm just finishing and it doesn't exhibit this problem. Also, if I open Netscape and ask it to load the file in question, it does so, which tells me that it's not a "bad file" problem.
