This is interesting. I run a macro which consists of six queries which delete data from different tables, append data to history files, and that sort of thing. This is part of closing up the month. After the macro finishes, Access shuts down. Any idea of how to avert that?

Take a careful look at your macro and make sure you don't have a Quit action at the end of it.
