    Error Message

I've just re-installed Windows 98 SE and I'm receiving the error message: C:WINDOWSTEMP
UDFRINST.EXE is corrupted, please re-install. Does anyone know what this is? I only have HP
recovery disks and have no way of finding this program. I hope I don't have to install Windows
again to fix this. I'm new at this as you can probably tell, so any help would be welcomed, Thanks.

According to this web site, it's an HP CD driver. Do a Google search and you'll also get other hits.

    Big Al,

Thanks for the info. If I can download this driver, how do I go about replacing the corrupted one?
    Thanks again.

    Re: Error Message

I guess I'd try the easy way first. Download the file and run it. You might have to re-boot your machine to see if the error goes away. On the other hand, when you execute the file, it may provide some different instructions for you. If so, do whatever it says. If this structure doesn't work, we can look for where the driver is and go from there.

Just for the fun of it, here's another link to an HP site that doesn't say too much in the description either, so I would just try running the file.

    Big Al,

Thanks a million. I downloaded that driver from HP, opened it and it installed itself. It turns out to be a driver that enables you to read
data files with Adaptic Direct CD Reader. Before I formatted my HD to re-install 98 I backed up all the
files to CD only to find out I couldn't read them. I thought that I had done it wrong or there was something
wrong with the CD. Your help has saved me countless hours of work replacing those files. I can't thank
    you enough!
