    Modem driver install

    Evening -

Am perplexed. I downloaded a driver for our Rockwell HCF 56K Speakerphone PCI modem. When I unzipped it, there were 16 files, but no install file, no setup; the only .exe file was an uninstall.

Barring an interrupted download, what could have gone wrong. ( I unzipped the download into a folder I called (ta-dum) Rockwell driver.)

Are driver downloads/installs handled differently from other downloads?

Could someone suggest another site for downloads (I "Googled" and found DriverGuide. Is another recommended?)

Thank you for your input, very much.

    Curious

    Re: Modem driver install

Is there a "inf" file, this is the one that the Add new hardware or update driver would be looking for.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: Modem driver install

Thank you for your promptness. I have to run between two computers, so sorry I was a tad tardy to reply to you.
I have 3 inf files with the download: PCI1009, PCI1009 (yes, two are the same), WACWAVE.

Naive question: if these are the needed ones, how do I proceed? Do I just go to Add New Hardware and follow whatever instructions appear?

    Thank you, Dave.

If the device is already installed, just try updating the drivers by finding the device in "System Properties" and then the 'Hardware' tab and then "Device Manager" and then right click on the device and select "Update Driver, and follow the instructions.

    Re: Modem driver install

    Morning, Dave -

According to the Sys Info/Update Driver "best driver Window found is already installed."

    Thanks for the tip, tho.
