    Hard drive FULL

A friend running WIN ME on a laptop called and said her hard drive is almost completely out of space. She has a 8 GB drive and has something like 7.8 GB used space. This "just happened". About 4 months ago, she had used about 3.5 GB and had 4.5 GB free space. She has loaded a couple of programs and a new printer but nothing that would take that much space. How can I check to see what is "using" all the space? Any other suggestions on what to do - short of reformating and starting over.

Trebor, There is a neat little utility called treesize that will give you a pie chart or a detailed listing of all programs and how much space they take up, etc.
You can get it at http://www.jam-software.com/treesize.html
    Give it a try.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

You could also try a search for *.* in Windows Explorer and look for files based on size. That usually turns up some surprises for me. See attachment and make the size anything that you think is significant.

My suggestion would be to clear the temporary internet files. Chances are, they haven't been cleared for a long while, and the various downloaded movie, image, and sound files are sitting there, making a pain of themselves.
