Windows 98

Would like to put some of my passwords and ID's in a file somewhere and be able to hide them so they are only available to me. No one else uses this computer but I'd feel better if the file was "out of sight--out of mind". Any suggestions?

Try this. It is very easy to use. ddcrypt v2.0 In will encrypt a file or files with a password.Have any questions on how to use it , let me know.

If you have PKZIP or WinZip, you could ZIP the file and give it a password.

Take a look at any of the major software download sites and you'll find freeware password manager software. You'll probably find something you can live with.

I may be overly cautious (terminally paranoid?), but I feel that if I use a password manager my securely?? encrypted passwords are in my machine and a hacker could steal them and work on cracking them at leisure. I prefer to write passwords on a piece of paper and keep this in an obscure place, if someone breaks into my house (and is not eaten by my dogs) at least I will know about it and can change the passwords.

Well, I prefer to forget to write them down, and then I forget to remember them, and then I have the web site e-mail them to me. Maybe prefer is the wrong word. It just seems to work out that way.

The next stage is when you remember to write them down, then forget when you have hidden the paper

Hey you must be my long lost brother. Cause you know way to much about the things I do. Don't tell anybody else OK!
