    Popup menu differences (2000)

I found people have different popup menus in access. For instance, when working in a form and I right-click in a field I get a popup menu that has several filtering options, including a place to enter search criteria for that field, as well as copy/paste and sorting options. However, another person has only a Filter-by-form search option and copy/paste, even though we seem to have the same version of access. Is there a way to change that popup menu so everyone has the same thing? It would help when telling people how to search for something if I know they have what I have.

If you right click a toolbar, and select Customize..., you get a list of toolbars. Context menus is the last item in the list (at least, in my version). If you select it, you can reset it.

What toolbars and popup menus users see, also depends on the design of the database. The designer can create custom toolbars and popup menus and assign those to forms and reports; they will be displayed instead of the standard versions. And in Tools/Startup..., the designer can specify whether the built-in toolbars and popup menus are shown at all.

In addition to Hans' comments, context menus vary depending on the container involved. The context menu that pops up when you right click a control in a subform may not be the same thing you see if you right click the same kind of control in the parent form, even if the default context menus are being used. I've always found the best approach to be having them right click a specific area and then asking them what they see on the menu. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
