    Word 2000 @#$! web toolbar (Office 2000 SR1)

Does anyone know how to stop the @#$! web toolbar from popping up by itself every time I think about going near a hyperlink ?

I don't think you can turn it off, but may you can make it remember to open off to the end of another toolbar where it doesn't bother you as much (because you won't see most of it). I think toolbars generally remember their position the last time Word exited and/or the last time they were displayed. Does this help a bit?

yeah, thanks, it helps a bit.
I was kinda hoping there would be a setting or a registry key or even a hack that could stop the thing bobbing up uninvited.
I know my way around Word and Excel pretty well generally, and this has always irked me (along with a quite a few others :-) ).
I just got hooked up with the lounge recently so I thought I'd post the question to see what turned up.
    Cheers

Here is a add-in created by pieter.janssens@skynet.be & has been mentioned in other posts on the Lounge. It is also available on Charles Kenyon's website. Rather than look it up, I've attached it. Put it in your startup folder or load it globally at will thru Tools/Templates & add-ins.

Okay, that makes sense: Word toggles the .Visible property, but toggling .Visible won't do anything if .Enabled = False. I'll have to remember that one.

    Damon, please ignore my earlier post. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
