    Listing/Printing Folders (SP 1)

Is it possible to go into Windows Explorer, list folders/sub-folders and then print the list off, without the file details? Thanks.

    Farmer--
How to Print Windows Explorer File List offers a couple ways--one from the dos prompt.
There is 3rd party software which I just can't find called Power Desktop that has an uber Explorer interface and allows you to do that I believe.

Also I believe Free Power Searcher will print all your Explorer folders and files. Unfortunately, their downloads are having a bandwidth problem and suspended but will be up 1-3 weeks.

I pulled this from Chris Perillo's Call for Help--he does the Lockergnome site:

You can use a few simple DOS commands to print directory listings, but they're not for everyone. Instead, if you have Outlook 2000/XP installed, you can use a workaround. Open the program and make sure the Outlook Bar is turned on. To do this, go to View and select Outlook Bar. Click the Other Shortcuts button on the bottom of the Outlook Bar and then click the My Computer icon. This will launch an Explorer Window directly inside Outlook. All you need to do is navigate to the folder you'd like to print and then go to the File menu and select Print. Before printing, check the Table Style options.

If you don't have Outlook 2000/XP, download PrintFolder from No Nonsense Software. We highly recommend this program, and it's free.

    Hi, Farmer ~

SMBP's DOS suggestion is too impeding and tedious for your purpose and the links provided are either unavailable or not as well suited for your needs.

I strongly second DaveA's suggestion of 'Karen's Directory Printer'. It provides a simple means for printing sort by, sort direction, specific details, files, folders or both, formatting, extension filters and other options in any combination you so choose as well as any print set up.

You can get more details and download <font color=blue>from this page now</font color=blue>.

You can use Outlook to print a folder's contents. I've had it working in some versions of Windows (eg NT), but in XP it just prints the column headings and the rest of the page is blank.

    Here's how to try it:

Make sure that you have the Outlook Bar displayed. If you don't see it then select it from the View menu. Click on File | New | Outlook Bar Shortcut. There are two controls in the resulting pop up window. "Look In:" should be set to File System and then you can browse the "Folder Name:" Then OK yourself back to the Outlook Bar. Click on the new item that points to your selected folder and you will see it, a la Explorer, in the main window of Outlook.

And you CAN print from here. You won't find Print on the File menu (I don't know why), but, if you have a Print toolbar icon, then this will bring up the Print dialogue box.

    John,
XP Pro Sp-1 & Outlook XP SP-2 works fine for me as long as I have the 'table style' selected. CTRL+P also works to bring up the print dialog.

    John,

    I know others here at work have Win2k SP-3 - Office 2k SP-3 & Win2k SP-3 - Office XP SP-2 that works fine.
