I would also suggest you get a Anti Virus program installed.

    Re: wink.wq.exe (Windows XP)

Both Norton Anti-virus dictionary and a google search for wink.wq.exe, do not turn up anything listing it as a current virus. There were variations of "wink" shown, but no exact match.
If this has recently started, it COULD be a new variation?
As Cowboy suggested, if you don't have an anti-virus program installed, you really should run, not walk, and get one installed. <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>

I think you will find it listed as "wink.xxx.exe ".
This is because there are several different first three letter extensions being used.

The folowing pasted from above link.
The presence of files named WINKxxx.EXE in the WindowsSystem folder where xxx is random.

    Dave,
When I searched for wink.xxx, I did get some hits that suggested the presence of the W32.Klez worm, so it DOES look like some variant of the worm is there in Johanna's machine.

    Johanna,
Please see the references above to your original post.
Do you have any anti-virus program on your machine? Which one, if you do have one? Also if you do, Have you updated the definitions recently? Very important !

Yes, over the weekend, I realized I had a worm. I guess I better get a virus program. I downloaded one from the Internet from housecalls.com. It detected it, but it keeps on coming back.

Thanks everyone. If you have more suggestions, please let me know.
