_RESTORE file

Hello all, a friend has a compaq laptop with a 8 GB hard drive. The drive has been getting progressively fuller and fuller until now she has only a few hundred MB's of free space. I found a filefolder called _RESTORE with 4.7 GB of space. It has 712 files and 5 folders but I was unable to "see" the files or folders. Can this filefolder be deleted to give her more space or what???

No, but you can go in and change the Restore settings so the reservesd space is smaller.
Look in the help on the options for Restore. I no longer have a Me machine around.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

what happens if I make the space considerably smaller than it currently is? Do I create a problem? Is this part of the SYSTEM RESTORE feature of ME?

what happens if I make the space considerably smaller than it currently is? fewer restore points are saved

Do I create a problem? No, no more than Me would cause any way.

Is this part of the SYSTEM RESTORE feature of ME? YES

I disagree. It is possible to turn off the Restore function and the files in _RESTORE can be deleted if you start in DOS.
Once in DOS, you can change to the directory and delete all the files therein.
