    custom icons (OL XP )

I have OL XP & 2000 on seperate computers
I am compiling a new menu of one-click email addresses using hperlinks for a mailto: command
I would like to add custom icons for each one
    How do i do this???

I can make the icons and i know about right click and customise and so on
What i specifically want to know is how to copy an icon created externally, in say microangelo, to a toolbar in Outlook or any office product
The only choices i can see are the standard dozen or so fish, etc or the very poor edit/redesign option
How do i copy & paste the new icon image

I had thought to copy the new image to the default location so it appeared as an option under change button image
    Will this work?
Can you tell me where these are stored?
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

Re: custom icons (OL XP )

Do you want to copy interactively or using code? Doing it interactively, load the icon onto the clipboard, right click the toolbar area and choose Customize..., then right-click menu item and choose Paste Button Image. In code, there is a method to do this, but I haven't tested it. Recent discussions on another board about certain templates clobbering the clipboard present a cautionary tale if you intend to distribute the solution to others.

Hi - i appreciate your reply
I had already tried this solution
i find my new icon via explorer and 'copy' to the clipboard
when i go back to Outlook (or word or whatever)
and click 'customise - right click icon' - the Paste Button Image option is grayed out
    That's my problem
I have a corporate (locked down) laptop with OL2000 & a home version of OL2002 and both are exactly the same
    Any more thoughts?
    thank you

    HOLD THE PRESSES
i solved my own problem after thinking more about your advice Jscher2000
The problem was with the way i was copying items to the clipboard
if i open and copy thru Microangelo then they are available to paste
I cant just copy the icon via explorer
    Problem solved i think

Thanks a lot for ur trouble and helping solve this
I knew there must be a simple solution
    Cheers,

Good point, I was not very clear on that. In my test, I had copied from a file opened in Paint. I imagine it's possible to create a shell extension so you could right-click a file in Explorer and extract its contents to the clipboard, but I wouldn't have any idea how (or whether it might already exist).
