Nudge is too big in XP (XP SP-1)

Using the nudge keys (Ctrl + arrow key) has been a marvellous way to finely position controls. However Access XP

    Hi Peter,
In my copy of Access 2002, having the Snap to Grid option turned off cause the Ctrl+arrow combination to move a control further than a simple arrow key press. With Snap to Grid on the opposite is true.

As noted, if you have Snap to Grid (Format menu) turned off, CTL + Arrow Key will move control one full GridX or GridY unit, which equates to 1/x of the Unit of Measurement as determined by Windows Control Panel Regional Options (Customize dialog, Numbers tab). If set to US (vice Metric), the default GridX & GridY settings for forms & reports is 24, or 1/24 inch. With default settings, CTL + Arrow key will "nudge" control 1/24 inch if Snap to Grid is off. But if Snap to Grid is on, CTL + Arrow key will nudge control 1/96 inch, regardless of GridX & GridY settings. With default Grid settings of 24, it takes 4 "nudges" to move control from one grid point to next. If GridX & GridY set to 12, it'll take 8 nudges. It takes 96 nudges to move control exactly one inch. (I actually tested this & counted all 96 nudges...)

If you use Control Panel to change from US to Metric system, each "nudge" will equate to 1/40 of a centimeter (cm). (Like an idiot I again counted each nudge....) Since 1 inch = appx 2.54 cm, if you do the math:

    ? Round(1/96,4)
    0.0104
    ? Round(1/(40*2.54),4)
    0.0098

It appears that a US "nudge" gets slightly more bang for the buck than does the Metric "nudge".

    Hello All,

I also have run into this problem and have been searching high and low for the explanation.

I frequently use "Shift+Arrow" to shrink or grow a control by the universal "nudge" unit and then use the
