    Paper Size (Word 2002)

I am trying to make a form for a firm mailing label. These labels are just 1 to a page, so I decided to set up a custom paper size and NOT use a table. So my dimensions are as follows:

Paper Size: 5.5 wide by 3.63 tall, landscape
    Margins: Top-1.85, Bottom-.25, Left-.25, Right-.25

BTW, I am printing with a laser HP 4.

When I go to print , I keep getting "Margins in section 1 are outside the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue?"
I continue and everything prints fine. When I go into page setup, margins, I get no error messages (this is where I am used to seeing margin messages, but not in this situation).

I have tried numerous work arounds, even starting with one of Words predefined paper sizes and slowly changing paper size and checking for errors.
It seems like I am OK, then BLOOEY this stupid error shows up when I go to print. It doesn't cause any REAL problem cause the labels and text are perfect, but is annoying AND this is a form that others will be using.

    Any ideas?

Try changing the .25 margins to .3 and increasing the paper size accordingly. I think .25 is right on the limit of the HP4 and I suspect it is trying to be nice and protective towards you!

    Re: Paper Size (Word 2002)

I have tried increasing the margins to even 1 inch. Still, the same error message. AND I have printed on several lasers and I still get the same error message even tho it prints fine. Someone on another board tells me that Word just doesn't handle custom paper sizes well......which I guess at this point I believe is true. Just wondering if anyone else could help me substatiate or suggest a workaround that isn't so annoying.

I'm not sure, but have you tried printing on a "normal" sized paper with the margins set in such a way that the label will print where you want it? Either that, or go back to using a table for the label.

    Re: Paper Size (Word 2002)

Yes, I finally settled on using Envelope size paper and then put a table on that for the label definition. That was a little easier that using 8.5 x 11, since the envelope feeds in from the center of the manual feed tray just like an envelope. So guess it is solved, but still wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if Word is just bogus when it comes to custom paper.

    Thanks,

    Peggy
