ATTN: Hans - Spin Button Help, please! (2000 - no SP's)

    Hans:

I've been looking at your SpinButtonDemo.xls code which was posted a while back (4/02). I'm trying to use a few Spin Buttons on my data entry form (an ongoing project).

    Here's the setup:

I need to allow input for a client's price range (in regards to property sales). I've set up two Spin Buttons, each with a Textbox, to represent the "FromPriceRange" and "ToPriceRange." I'd like the buttons to increase/decrease at a value of

    Hello Loungers:

I originally put this to Hans' attention because it was about his code but if anyone can offer a solution or some tips, I would be most grateful. I need help with Spin Buttons (spinners)! :-)

    Thanks for your help.

I would do it like this:

    - Set up a range with the prices
    - use the spinbutton with numbers 1,2,3,4,5 (so increment by 1), with it's max set to the number of prices
    - Use the spinbutton's value to lookup (Like the INDEX worksheet function) the appropriate price.

I'm not the Hans you meant (that is Hans Pottel, the author of the post you referred to), but perhaps I can contribute.

Jan Karel Pieterse has already given you a good suggestion. The attached workbook demonstrates what he wrote.

    Hans and Jan:

Thank you both very much for coming to my rescue (in Jans case--again). I'm back to work on this now and will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again.

Re: ATTN: Hans - Spin Button Help, please! (2000 - no SP's)

    Hans:

This works great and just about solves all of my spinner button needs. One question remains: what's the best way to utilise a spin button for dates and times? I've been playing around most of the afternoon trying to get date spinner and a date and time spinner to work and the only thing I came up with was setting the Control Source of the textbox to a cell containing the NOW formula--but I can't get it to increment more than - 1 or + 1. I'm not sure this is a very reliable method anyway as I'm sure there must be a better way.

I look forward to your advice (or, of course, Jan's). Thanks!

Use a Calendar Control instead. See http://www.microsoft.com/exceldev/articles/CalExcel.htm --Sam

    Sam:

Thanks for the suggestion, which I will pursue (because it may be useful for other projects), but it as this spreadsheet needs to be widely distributed throughout our company, the calendar control may cause much trouble. I know I could create an installation programme for it and include the control but...it could still be troublesome with different OS's and versions of Office. I will walk through this though.

Does anyone have a simpler, vba solution? Thanks!
