    Link to PPT file

How can I force a link to a PowerPoint file to open up in PowerPoint rather than my browser (IE4)? The problem is I have multiple PowerPoint files all linked to one another and the links within the presentations are not working because the PPT files are being temporarily stored in Temporary Internet folder. I want the link to open the actual file rather than take a copy etc.

The Browse in same window tick box is greyed out for ppt file via view options from with in MT Explorer, so no joy there.
I have tried editing Regedt32.exe as suggested - using 9 to open PowerPoint, in NT, but again to no avail.
