    Autotext (Office 2000)

We ran patches on Word 2000 and now some autotext does not work. It shows the autotext in the list but it will not automatically popup. I had the user go into the autotext list and set the "Look in" for Normal.dot rather than "All active templates". Once she did this, the autotext functioned. Why would the Normal.dot not be considered an active template?

    Re: Autotext (Office 2000)

    Hi Jan:
The only thing I can think of is that a document based on a custom template was open. That template had the Autotext entry of the same name but it didn't insert anything. Since the autotext in the attached template takes precedence over normal.dot, nothing happened. When you switched to normal.dot in the look-in box, you were able to access the entry. <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15>
