Check Boxes print too light (2000)

I'm looking for a way to make the "check boxes" stand out more on print outs, all I get is a light narrow check mark in the box. I'm able to format the cell and the text but not the box itself (we're only using the box not the check box text). The current workaround is to delete the check box and enter a bold X. I tried the radio buttons but couldn't figure out how to control the toggling as it won't allow me to select more than one radio button at a time and I need multiple buttons or boxes selected simultaneously on this sales form.
    Thanks.

The only way I can think of is this:

    - Choose smaller fonts for the entire form
    - (optionally) set the view percentage larger than 100 % (sometimes causes display trouble though)
    - Set the print scale to a value larger than 100 %
