    Common Dialog control

Where do I get the Common Dialog control for Access 97? I have seen knowledge base articles on using it, but I can't find it.

    Re: Common Dialog control

The common dialog control comes with Office 97 Developer's Edition and with Visual Basic 5 or Visual Studio 5. However, it is possible to use the Windows common dialog without the control if you understand the API calls involved. You can find code for that in several places, including the Access 97 Developler's Handbook, (I believe), and <A target="_blank" HREF=http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/attac-cg/>ATTAC Consulting.

Thanks, Charlotte. I have Visual Basic 6.0 but have never gotten into it. Would it be in there? If it is, can I get it out for use in Access with something simple like a cut and paste?

    Re: Common Dialog control

I haven't tried using the VB 6 version with Access 97, so I'm not sure they're fully compatible. It should show up already in your Access toolbox if you hit the hammer and wrench icon. Using it is another story. ActiveX controls don't come with much documentation, and are harder to use from Access than from VB. Once you get into the custom properties, there is some help available, but not a lot.
