    Mailmerge -1 main doc with 2 datasources (word97 sr2b)

    I had a query from a user.
In Word97 the user had 2 data sources she wanted to attach to the 1 main document (letter). ie 1 datasource was in Word the other datasource was in Excel & she wanted to pool the data from both the word datasource & the excel datasource into the 1 document within the one mailmerge.
I said it couldnt be done but its an interesting question.
Do you know if this could be handled in XP?

Using a macro to combine the data sources, and to then run the merge, would be my guess. But I'm still using Word 2000 and I merge rather infrequently.

Nope - can't be done in XP either. You have to merge the two data sources into a single document, either in Excel, Word or Access to make it go. Actually, in Access you can sort of merge two different data sources without creating a separate document, but it's a good deal of bother.
