    Page File (XP Pro)

When Defraging I see some files being optimized called C:PageFile. I have my Virtual Memory Off, so how can it be seeing a paging file, and if so how do I get rid of it or can I. Because it takes along time for those files to Optimize. Everything else goes real fast Also you can tell when Virtual memory is turned on because that area shows up black and Excluded while Defraging.

    Cowboy,
It seems to me that I read that the pagefile created when you insatall XP, stays there even though you select NO Pagefile (or virtual memory)
I found it out when I moved my pagefile from the C drive to my D drive, and selected no pagefile for the C.
The pagefile.sys remained on my C, and created a new one on my D. So I just deleted the file on the C and everything worked fine.

Where did you find it on your C: Drive?

It is called pagefile.sys and is a hidden system file, in the root folder of your Windows XP Drive. My XP is installed on my G drive.

    Cowboy,
It was right in the root folder of the C. (pagefile.sys)
Since you don't have any pagefile at all, you might want to do a search of all drives to see if anything remains.
