    Flashing number (2000)

    I was wondering if it is possible to make a number flash on and off if a certain condition applies:
    eg =if (c1= 0, make number flash,"")
    Presmably this would need to be done in VBA?

    Regards

    Excel is not really good at that, and besides I would find flashing cells annoying. But if you do a search in the Excel forum on 'flash', you will find some code, for instance in the thread starting at <post#=168793>post 168793</post#>.

    Hi bookman,

    As a variation on Hans' solution, you could use conditional formatting in the target cell, with the formula:
    =AND(MOD(VALUE(TEXT(NOW(),"ss")),2)=0,C1=1)
    coupled with the following simplified version of Hans' macro:

    Sub FlashCell()
    Range("A1").Calculate
    Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("0:00:01"), "FlashCell"
    End Sub

    The advantage of this is that all you need to do is to copy the conditional format to any other cell you want to 'flash', changing nothing more than the "C1=1" argument to whatever 'flash' criterion you want.

    Cheers
