Linking to Cell/Range in Excel (Project 2000)

A friend asked me to help her out, but I must defer to greater minds than mine for the remedy. She merely wants to insert a hyperlink to a cell or named range in Excel XP. Both of us, with quite disparate installations, get the same error when we browse to an Excel file and click the Bookmark... button: "Microsoft Project could not open this file or could not parse a file of this type."

We are both familiar with links to internal references betwixt Excel workbooks, and we're quite flummoxed at Project's behavior. Surely, for the love of all that is good and wonderful with Microsoft products, that which we seek to do is doable.

    Thanks for your help!

I think the issue may be that you are trying to link MS Project 2000 to Excel XP. Try the hyperlink using Excel 2000 and see if it works. Suggest saving the Excel file to 2000 and then trying the hyperlink.

Also - Search MS Project on hyperlink for more information.
