    Outlook Express and MSN (6.00.2800.1106)

Looks like I made a mistake and installed MS patch # 810847 even though Woody strongly advised against doiny anything about MS03-004. Can anyone help me with how to uninstall this noxious patch. I find Outlook Express behaves very erratically when accesing my MSN hotmail accounts.

Or, is this yet another of MicroSoft's yet to to achnowledged problems?

Any and all help gratefully accepted.

    Roy

    Hi, Roy ~

This update cannot be removed after installation - uninstall is not available. <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>

Thanks for the information, Bruce. I appreciate your interest.

For a further update, It appears the MSN site may be having troubles of it's own; I find it very difficult to log in and retrieve messages directly. So, the problem may not ultimately lie with Outlook Express but with MSN or Hotmail.

Thanks once again for your interest.

There is a new "critical update" posted today on MS Windows update, that refers to 810847. You should visit the update site and install this patch.

    Roy,
Just for future reference, before you install ANY of those "updates" or "patches" from MS, especially the ones that tell you in advance that they cannot be removed, create a system restore point. I can't say for certain that when you revert your drive after finding that you don't care for the changes the installation has made, that those changes will be removed (MS update, MS product) but it's worth the chance. If you want to be SURE you can rid yourself of any changes then grab a copy of GoBack and then you can just go back to the time before the installation and all will be as it was. You could also use DriveImage and achive the same results, but GoBack is much simpler.
Hope this is of some help in the future.

Thanks, Doc, for the tip on GoBack. I will get myself a copy and install it as soon as I can. It has saved my skin in the past.
