IE6 Defaults to OE for Mail (6.0)

A problem has recently cropped up that has me baffled. In the tools of MSIE I have designated OUTLOOK as the default email program, but anytime I try to forward a URL or web page from off the Net to someone, Outlook Express comes up to do the task. This would not be a problem, I don't really care which program does this, but when this happens, the operation goes into a loop and the item never gets mailed. Anybody got any ideas on this? I'm running Office XP SP-1 on Windows XP. Thanks for any assistance.

From the Internet Explorer menu go to Tools | internet options | programs - do you have Outlook defaulted here?

    Hi, Tom ~

Try this:<UL><LI>'Start' > 'Control Panel' > 'Add or Remove Programs'<LI>On the left-hand side if the window, click the 'Set Program Access and Defaults' button<LI>Put the dot in the 'Custom' radio button and click the down double-arrow<LI>Under 'Choose a default e-mail program:', put the dot in the 'Outlook' radio button and if you do not want to use Outlook Express for e-mail, you may also uncheck the box next to 'Enable access to this program' across from 'Outlook Express' and then click 'OK'[/list]However, oftentimes for your default mail client to stick, there are two places this setting has to be changed as just changing a setting in Outlook, Outlook Express or IE by itself will not suffice, so before you do the above, do this:<UL><LI>Open Outlook > 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Other' tab<LI>Check 'Make Outlook the default program for e-mail...' in the 'General' area, then 'Apply' > 'OK' and exit.<LI>Now open IE > 'Tools' > 'Internet Options' > 'Programs' tab<LI>Select 'Outlook' from the drop-down 'E-mail' box then 'Apply' > 'OK' and exit, then go to the control panel as above to set Outlook as the default program for your email.
