    SOHO Network Monitor?

Looking for a simple network monitor for a SOHO network I am setting up. Right now I have the network working with 1 XP machine, 1 Win2k, 1 Win95 (old laptop) and a ME laptop (wireless) using a LinkSys wireless access point router w/ 4port switch and DSL on the LinkSys. I will be adding 2 Mac machines and perhaps two more Win machines to the network (wireless) in the future. I would like to find a network monitor displays which machines are on the network perhaps a network activity light. I don't need to know what websites or files each is accessing, just that there is activity. Ideally it would poll each machine automatically (perhaps every 30 secs) to determine if it's still connected. So far I've downloaded and tried about 20 different programs off the internet and none do exactly what I want. So far I've tried:

    XSharez
    ActivMon
    A1Monitor
    IPMonitor
    Traffic Meter
    ANM Active Network Monitor
    AA Tools
    NetMon
    OnLine
    NetScanPro 3.3
    EF System Monitor
    LookAtLAN
    NetWorx
    SmartWorx NetMan 3.0

Anybody use something that sounds like it will work? I'd prefer freeware but I'd be willing to pay $15-30 if I could evaluate it first and if it worked.

    Thanks.
