Photo Editor file size limits (2000)

Office 2000's Photo Editor remains very popular with us because it is so simple. However, it appears to have a file size limit, because I often try to open JPEGs only to be greeted with the error: "The image is too large (too many bytes)" Does anyone know where I'll find these limits defined? Are they of the image dimensions, or the file size, and do they apply the same to tiffs & gifs as well? If I know the limits in advance, I can ensure that all our images are sized to work with Photo Editor. Also, does the limit remain in XP versions of Photo Editor?
    Thanks

Re: Photo Editor file size limits (2000)

I just found the answer on the MS Knowledge Base. It's on KB #211758.

There's a 32mb memory limit to the file size of any one image. I presume that refers to the actual computer memory required, not the file size.
