    $Uninstall Files (Office XP)

I seem to remember that you said that one could remove these $Uninst.....$ files but I can't find your article which dealt with this. I know that it will prevent me from uninstalling SP1 for instance. I don't seem to need that at this point. Is there any other risks? do I just delete them? Thank you. Charles

Just delete them - there is no risk. You can also delete corresponding entries in "Add/Remove Programs" list (open Registry Editor, and delete keys with corresponding Q numbers - Q123456 - under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionUninstall
