    Close Button

    Hi All !
Does anyone know how to get rid of the minimize, restore & close buttons in the right hand corner of the screen. I'm really only interested in getting rid of the the close button so other people have to go to File Close or Exit command to close the programs. Thank You very much!

    Re: Close Button

In which programs would you like to hide the Close button? If it is intended for *all* Windows programs (after all, you posted this in the General Windows Solutions forum), it is a bit of a tall order, and it goes against the grain of Windows.

If you want to do it in an application you create, for instance in VB6, it is possible to specify which control buttons (minimize, maximize, close) are visible in the title bar of a form.

What kind of programs are these? Are they commercial applications that you have bought, or are they being developed by you? If you are developing them, what are you using to do so - Access, Excel, Word, VB6, C++, ASP, ... ?

    Re: Close Button

Perhaps others have a brighter idea.

I think that you would need to use Windows API calls to do it, so you would have to create a separate application in VB6 or C++. You would have to retrieve the window handle of the application window, and use the GetSystemMenu and EnableMenuItem API calls to disable the close box. I don't know if this is worth the trouble. If you think so, head over to the VB/VBA forum and ask there. (If you do, a Moderator will probably lock this thread to avoid confusion).
