    Inserting shortcuts on emails (2000/XP)

Is it possible to insert hyperlinks to network shares in an email?, I want to send a email to a group of people and need to direct them to a folder or files on our file/print server which they have access to. When I try to drag a folder the mouse cursor changes to a no entry sign. I am sure I have seen emails where there have links to network folder and files. Any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

There are probably lots of ways to do this. I use the My Conmputer option in the Other Shortcuts group of the Outlook bar. It opens an instance of Windows Explorer. After navigating to the folder I want, I click in the Address box in the toolbar, copy the contents and paste them into a mail item.

(Other answer deleted as it didn't answer your question.)

You may need to resolve the real name of the specifc LAN the files reside on, as opposed to the mapped name, like this:

    AAABBB1SHAREDACCESSMDBFILES

where AAABBB1 may be mapped to you as drive P or whatever.

Thanks everybody for your idea's which I have tried and they work great!.
On a related subject, on Outlook 2K when attaching a file, the insert button provided a number of options such as 'insert as attachment','insert as text' and 'insert as shortcut' this last option is no longer available on Outlook XP, any reasons?? is this because of the super 'security features' of XP?

    Thanks

The selection was MOVED to the "Insert button" of the file listing pane. See attachment and note the 'Arrow Down' next to Insert.
