    Embedded Array In An If Statement (2000)

    How do you embed an array formula in an if statement; Examle: "=If(x=y, 1,{Array Formula})

    Jeff, generally you array enter the whole formula, the non-array arguments (usually references to a single cell) will not be treated as arrays.

    You can enter it pretty much as you have, but it becomes an array within an array, so it must be setup correctly or you will discover that your array has many more elements than you imagine.

    What are you trying to determine?

    Trying to solve the issue discussed in another thread regarding 30-year averages-re using prior years' averages if current year's is not yet available.

    I'm still thinking about that. I didn't get a chance to play too much with it today. Some leads some deadends with arrays. I think it is doable, though the formula will NOT be pretty.
