Range Names (Excel 2000)

Sorry about this one folks, but I may be losing it...for the life of me I can't remember how to subtract one range name from another. As in the example I am attaching which I took 2 stabs at.
Thanks for taking a peek at it ahead of time here...always so grateful

    Re: Range Names (Excel 2000)

Since your named ranges contain multiple cells:

    =SUM(SUM(Year1)-SUM(Year2))

    Re: Range Names (Excel 2000)

Thank you very much. I was also attempting an array, but that was not good either. I should have noted your explanation as I autofilled down, that it was looking at multiple cells, just didn't think a range would do that. It is a "range" after all. Live and learn.
    Again, Many Thanks

    Re: Range Names (Excel 2000)

Actually it is slightly simpler than that:

=SUM(Year1)-SUM(Year2)

If you use range names a lot, consider downloading my (free!) name manager from the Excel mvp page below.
