    Can I delete this file

    I have a Compaq Presario 5630 running Win98SE. The following file is 6.78MB and I have no idea what it is: cpqdrvDvddata1.cab I would like to delete it ... any thoughts ? Thanks in advance for any help !!!

    Have you tried to un-zip the file?

    Hi Coinman,

    Judging by the filepath, it could be an important driver file that comes with your Compaq. It could hold essential things like sound, video & modem drivers that you'd need if Windows had to be reinstalled. Before deleting it, I'd strongly recommend contacting Compaq, or their local dealer, to find out what it's for.

    Judging the book by it's cover....... cpqdrvDvddata1.cab

    cpq = Compaq
    drv = drivers
    Dvd = DVD drive
    data1.cab = first data cab file (for DVD drivers)
