    change duration (project 98)

I have a task that I enter a start date and a duration. Project will calculate a finish date. Now I need to change the finish date due to a scheduling conflict. Is there a way to have project change the duration when I change the finish date? When I do this now it changes the start date and leaves the duration the same. I want the start date to stay on the date I entered.
    Thanks

The quick and easy answer to your question is to put a must start on constraint on the task where you want to anchor the start date. However, this creates other scheduling problems as that date can't change.

Are you using the predecessor and successor fields to drive the task relationships. This way, when a task is delayed, other tasks that are its predecessors will delay as well.

You say you have a scheduling conflict. What type of conflict are you referring to?
