    dBase 4

Anybody old enough to know if dBase 4 can be run in W2000 Pro? Is there a DOS box in 2000 like there is in 98? Do you run programs from .pif files?

dBase I would assume is OK - I use CA-Clipper frequently on both 2000 and XP machines. As long as you set the proper environment variables, there shouldn't be too many problems. I can say that even under CMD.EXE Clipper is a resource hog.

To run a program from a command prompt, click Start - Run and enter CMD in the box. This is the 32-bit equivalent of a DOS box. COMMAND.COM is also available but is noticeably slower. And yes, you can run programs from PIF files.
