    Advanced Filter (2000)

Boy, is my brain foozled today. I have a list of product descriptions, included in some is the word suite. I have tried the following as filters, but I'm not getting the correct result.
    The filters I used were ="*suite*", when that did not produce the correct information I then tried =*suite* <img src=/S/brainwash.gif border=0 alt=brainwash width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

In the filter drop down, select Custom. Within the dialog box (it's way down there in the options) select "contains", enter only "suite" as your criteria.

    Thanks John, that certainly works. Being in Advanced Filter didn't think <img src=/S/crazy.gif border=0 alt=crazy width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16> of the simple Filter solution.
I am still curious as to why the Criteria in Advanced Filter did not give me the same answer.

If you enter *suite* in the Advanced Filter criteria range it should work. No need for quotation marks or the = sign.

    Paul,

I think your problem arises from having blank rows in your criteria range. If you set the Criteria range to A1314 it should work.
