Suggestion

Eileen,
Main Index view:
I have a large screen, although not running IE full Window, but I can still get 6" between the name of the forum and the number of posts (and new post indication).
It may just be my eyes and varifocals, but I find it difficult sometimes to pan across and relate one to t'other.
Is it feasible to maybe alternate the shading slightly on rows? maybe like the difference between the Posts and Last Post columns?
Just a teeny bit?

Oh, God, I feel guilty now - I've gone a criticised this work-of-art forum.....

Actually that space is wide to make room for Board Descriptions (in a paler color - under each Board name). I left them out to save vertical space but it may be a good idea to include them - if it's only to lead your eyes across to the related info.

I like suggestions - suggestions are good.

I think the boards are pretty self-explanatory. I mean, even a novice knows what app they're having trouble with...& if not, they'll never find their way to this forum. I like the idea of alternating shades. That would be real helpful...or make it narrower.

Re: Suggestion

Hey, Phil!
In NS, when I turned "On" style sheets in the advance tab, my main index view mimics the forum view -- smaller rows, etc. I know Eileen said to turn them off, but I prefer the smaller print, and haven't noticed any other change created by that option...

Re: Suggestion

Hi Karen:
Yes, the main index view is similar. But try replying to a post with Style Sheets enabled. The box that you type in is much larger than the one in IE; at least it is on mine.

Maybe there's a difference in some other setting. I think you said your font was size 14. Mine is set (in NS4.75) to Variable Width: TNR 12, Fixed Width: Courier New 12. I think the latter is used when I type in replies or messages.

I do know that enabling style sheets is good on some web pages. If I don't use it on some web sites, I have to scroll back & forth; with style sheets enabled, I don't have to do that.

Didn't you say you lost the numbers at the bottom (to jump to different pages) as well?

Re: Suggestion

Yes, but I found that that was true in threaded view, not flat mode. And I lose it in threaded view regardless of whether style sheets are turned on or off (I think). I should write these things down.
